Optical parametric generators from the nanosecond to the femtosecond time domain

Abstract

Optical parametric generators are highly efficient nonlinear optical sources of powerful coherent radiation with very large truly continuous tuning ranges that can operate down to the femtosecond time domain. The principles of the basic three-photon spontaneous and stimulated parametric processes and the current status of the rapidly developing optical parametric device technology will be reviewed in this tutorial.
