Abstract
Transient optical wave mixing presents an interesting alternative mechanism for coherent optical parametric interactions in media with local nonlinearities, i. e., where the imparted optical intensity grating function is coincident with the induced refractive index or nonlinear polarization grating function.[1,2] As a result of excitation by laser pulses of durations shorter than the material response times, the induced nonlinearity assumes both temporal and spatial nonlocality. Under this condition, a timedependent energy and phase coupling amongst the interacting waves is generated.
