Abstract

Structure and dynamics of acoustic transients generated during photoablative tissue removal were investigated. The acoustic stress transients were caused by the recoil momentum of the ejected photofragments during photoablation. ArF excimer laser (λ= 193nm) and q-switched Er: YSGG (λ=2790nm) laser were used as a laser source. Corneal, dermal and dental tissue probes were fixed on piezoelectric transducers (PVDF-films) and irradiated with both lasers. PVDF-films (9µm thickness) were used as a detector for laser induced acoustic transients.
