Abstract

The radiative lifetimes of alkali-atoms have been measured widely, but comparatively much less experimental work in this respect have been performed for rare-earth atoms, especially for neutral thulium atoms. The data from computation in a large range have been reported by Camus[1] and Wallenstein.[2] Some experimental results for lower excited states and high-lying Rydberg states have been given by Blagoev,[3] Wang[4] and Vidolova-An-gelova.[5] But the knowledge of radiative life times for the excited states of thulium with middle-energy values has been still remaining unknown. Our work is devoted to lifetime measurements of several thulium states situated at the region of 33600-34700cm−1.
