Two Photon Absorption and Degenerate Four Wave Mixing in Semiconductor Doped Glasses at Photon Energy Well below Band-Gap

Abstract

We investigated the optical non-linear properties of the semiconductor doped glasses (SDG) at 1.06 µm. The various samples, all manufactured by Schott, contained microcrystals of CdS1−x Sex or CdTe semiconductors, with an absorption edge ranging from 475 to 850 nm, as labelled also by the commercial names of the glasses. The bandgap Eg of the different samples covered the range 2.2 hv>Eg>1.2 hv, and then single photon absorption never occurred.
