Abstract

Strong field nonlinear optical interactions have received attention for a variety of reasons; including recent experiments on electromagnetically induced transparency[1] which can occur in a spectral range of strong resonantly enhanced nonlinearity.[2] Strong field effects include saturation, Stark shifting, Rabi splitting, strong field induced extra resonance, and strong field induced gain and loss. For strong fields which are near resonances, conventional perturbation analysis result in a rapid proliferation in the number of terms and, for sufficiently strong fields, can diverge.
