Abstract

We recently reported the third-order optical susceptibilities of the Pt, Pb, and metal free tetrakis(cumylphenoxy)phthalocyanines (Pc) measured at 1.064 μm, a wavelength far from the main absorption bands.1 The third-order susceptibilities were remarkably large and varied substantially with the metal in the order Pt > Pb > metal free. To explore the origin of these large hyperpolarizabilities, the third-order hyperpolarizibility of a sequence of transition metal phthalocyanines has been studied.
