Abstract

Theoretical extensions of Lamb's treatment¹ of a two-level atom in an intense optical standing wave revealed a series of multiphoton processes which have been named Dopplerons.² The effects of Doppleron resonances have been observed on the internal coordinates of CH₃F atoms in a gas cell.³
