Dynamics of nonlinear waves in optical waveguides

Abstract

Recent experiments1 show evidence of spatial solitons within waveguides which exhibit a Kerr nonlinearity. An all-optical switch based on this effect had previously been proposed2 and modeled numerically in one transverse dimension (1D).
