Abstract

Direct small signal amplitude modulation of quantum well (QW) laser diodes is largely a problem of carrier transport. Important transport mechanisms include classical transport in the bulk regions of the laser [1] and the capture of bulk carriers into the quantum active region [2, 3, 4].
