Abstract

Acoustically tunable optical filters (ATOFs) are promissing devices in densely-packed WDM networks for numerous reasons. They have an all-electronic tunability, a tuning range about 20 times that of electrooptic filters, a narrow BW, a narrow channel spacing and a good switching speed of few ps limited by the surface acoustic wave (SAW) velocity.
