Abstract
Recent advances in high resolution laser spectroscopy of the simple hydrogen atom are reviewed. Dramatic further improvements in resolution can be expected, promising unprecedented opportunities for tests of fundamental physical laws and for precision measurement of the Rydberg constant, the proton/electron mass ratio, and the charge radii of the proton and the deuteron.
