Abstract

High speed optical switches are quite essential in high bit rate transmission and high-speed exchange systems. Semiconductor MQW optical switch based on the electric field induced refractive index variation in MQW structure is a promising candidate for these systems, because of small device size and feasibility for photonic integrated circuits.
