Abstract

In a previous paper1, a design was presented for a two element binocular objective having an axial gradient index positive lens and a homogeneous negative lens. The performance of the resulting binocular was shown to be comparable to the original system, having a three element homogeneous objective. Recently, a prototype binocular has been fabricated using this design. Details of the fabrication and testing, as well as a review of the design, will be presented.
