Abstract
Linear arrays of conventional simple lens elements, arranged as shown on figure 1, were proposed as copier optics as early as 1966. These, so called, "Strip Lenses" present an erect image made up of a large number of overlapping registered images. This image orientation is identical to that formed by a Selfoc* lens. The Selfoc lens, which is a linear array of gradient index rods (or fibers), has been effectively utilized in a number of small copiers recently.2
