Optical Design with Orthogonal Freeform Representations

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Advances in production tools foster the use of high-order aspheres and freeforms in imaging optical systems. Various aspects of orthogonal representations of rotationally symmetric and freeform aspheres are discussed. Recent results demonstrate the value of orthogonal polynomials in optical design.
