Highly Directional Radiation from Photonic Crystal Slabs

Abstract

We develop a general temporal coupled-mode theory formalism to derive bounds on the asymmetric radiation from a photonic crystal slab for arbitrary geometries and wavevectors, and present designs with asymmetry ratios exceeding 104.
