Abstract

The dual laser plasma (DLP) technique, in which one laser plasma acts as the sample and a second as a source, has for the last 20 years provided a valuable insight into the inner shell photoabsorption and photoionisation processes of neutral, singly and multiply charged ions [1]. Spectroscopic investigations of the absorbing plasma have yielded important data on the relative and sometimes absolute total photoabsorption cross sections of atoms and ions.
