Abstract
Supramolecular donor-acceptor (D-A) arrays on the base of tetrapyrrolic compounds are important as models of the photoinduced electron transfer (ET) that occurs in photosynthesis. In this report we describe cw and femtosecond (δ1/2 ≈ 280 fs) pump-probe results demonstrating ET phenomena in a series of artificial systems with well-defined structure based on a Zn-octaethylporphyrin chemical, ZnOEP-Ph-ZnOEP (I) and corresponding D-A moieties ZnOEP-Ph-ZnOEP-Sp-A, where an electron acceptor A is covalently linked by a variable spacer (Sp) to the dimer in the opposite meso-position. The following -Sp-A fragments were studied in solvents of various polarity: - Ph-N=CH-AQ (II), -AQ (III), -Ph-SO3-AQ (IV), -Ph-CH2-Im (V) and -Ph-CH2-Q (VI).
