Abstract

The formation is studied of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in an x-ray laser operating at the transitions in the collisionally pumped low-Z Ne-like ions. The gain zone appears in laser-produced plasma on the prepulse or multiple pulse irradiation of a thick target. The concave profile of electron density Ne in the direction perpendicular to the target is typical for this plasma [1].
