Fully Resonant Four-wave Mixing in Strong Fields at Doppler Broadened Transitions: Theory and Experiment

Abstract

Recently, continuous resonant four-wave mixing processes (RFWM) ω4 = ω1ω2 + ω3 in double-Λ level configurations of Na2 molecules (Figure 1) with frequency up- [1] and down-[2] conversion have been realized. The fields with frequencies ω1 and ω2 are coupled by a Raman laser process. Measured lineshapes and dependences on power and detuning of the involved pump fields show distinct differences between the up- and down-conversion schemes and deviations from predictions based on a perturbative theory [3].
