Abstract

We describe properties of materials and devices in the context of electrically pumped polymer laser. As part of the introduction, the historic role of organic lasers since the early 1960’s will be described and the ongoing research will be placed into context. The realisation of optically pumped lasing in a semiconducting organic material1 have opened the door for an electrically pumped organic laser.
