Strong Field Theory of Ultrafast Pump-Probe Spectra: Dye Molecules in Solution

Abstract

The ultrafast dissipative dynamics of vibrational degrees of freedom in open molecular systems is studied in the framework of the density matrix theory. Focusing on molecular dynamics under the influence of strong laser pulses a direct solution of the density matrix equations with the inclusion of the light-field has to be carried out. In this manner any perturbational treatment of the molecule-radiation coupling can be circumvented [1]. Additionally, within an approach already proposed in [2] the external field is considered not only in the reversible part of the dynamic equations but also in the dissipative one [3].
