Abstract

Amplification in two-level or three-level atomic systems driven by coherent quasi-resonant laser fields is important in the context of lasers without inversion and media with a large index of refraction without absorption.

Here we deal with a related problem, which is concerned with the noise characteristics of the amplification process.
