Abstract

The possibility to produce ultrashort laser pulses has led to an increasing interest in the dynamical behavior of wave packets and its relation to classical mechanics. A wave packet is formed by coherent excitation of several non-degenerate eigenstates of a system and its time evolution mimics the motion of a classical particle.
