Quantum theory of continuous photodetection in the presence of feedback

Abstract

It is well known that according to the convenient photodetection theory, developed in the sixties by Glauber, Kelley, and Kleiner, the field bringing about the sub-Poissonian photocount statistics (with var(n) < 〈n, n being the photocount number in the measurement interval) cannot be described classically and represents the type of a squeezed state of light. Considerable interest has been attracted recently to generation of such a light with the use of negative feedback between the photodetector and the detected light beam.
