Advanced O-band transmission using maximum likelihood sequence estimation

Abstract

We discuss advanced maximum likelihood sequence estimation methods for short reach IM-DD transmission, which include reducing complexity of Viterbi algorithm and improving the decoding performance with precise emulation of nonlinear responses in transmission systems. We also present transmission experiments over 200-Gbps/lane using our proposed methods.
