Real-Time Transition Dynamics of Harmonically Mode-Locked Femtosecond Ultralong Ring Fiber Lasers

Abstract

The transition dynamics between harmonic mode-locking states in Raman-assisted ultralong ring fiber lasers assisted are experimentally studied. The results confirm the expected solitonic behaviour associated to the quasi-lossless extended cavity, but also showcase unusual intermediate states that could inform system design for tunable operation.
