Abstract
This research investigates morphology evolution of diamonds in combustion synthesis to understand the nucleation mechanisms of diamond phase. Diamond films of various morphologies are deposited on molybdenum substrates in different experimental conditions. These diamond films are studied using scanning electron microscopy, and characterized by µ-Raman spectroscopy at different height levels of a film cross-section. The results show that oxygen affects morphology of the diamond films.
