Abstract

Coherent Doppler lidar velocity estimators are evaluated using computer simulation to determine the optimal numerical and algorithm parameters that minimize estimation error. The Maximum Likelihood ML and Minimum Variance MV (Capon) algorithms are evaluated using simulated Coherent Doppler lidar data for the typical parameter regime of current 2μm lidar systems used for boundary layer measurements.
