Abstract
Coherent laser radar applications often require longer optical pulselengths than can be delivered by conventional TE CO2 lasers. E-beam sustenance offers a satisfactory but complex solution, or optical output can be extended by using very nitrogen rich mixtures at the penalty of low efficiency (1).
