Controlling ultrafast laser writing with pulse temporal contrast

Abstract

The effect of temporal contrast of femtosecond laser pulses on nanostructuring of silica glass is demonstrated. Nanopore-based modifications are created with a contrast of 107, while stronger birefringence is observed with reduced contrast of 103.
