Visualizing Momentum Forbidden Dark Exciton in Layered Semiconductor

Abstract

Compressive strain in WS2 modifies the band alignment and enables intervalley exciton-phonon scattering, enhancing the formation of dark intervalley excitons. Dark exciton emission depends on local strain, and it can be used for strain sensing.
