Near-Field Terahertz Emission Spectroscopy of Non-Linearities using Free Electrons

Abstract

The interaction of free-electron pulses with THz near-fields imprints a rich structure on the electron spectrum. We exploit this interaction in an ultrafast electron microscope distinguishing THz-generating non-linear mechanisms of optical rectification and photo-Dember effect.
