Statistical Characteristics of Distributed Modal Crosstalk for Weakly-Coupled FMF Transmission

Abstract

We experimentally show that noise induced by the distributed modal crosstalk in weakly-coupled FMFs is well approximated by Gaussian distribution. Its impact on weakly-coupled MDM transmission systems is experimentally compared with ASE noise.
