Abstract

We demonstrate a new strain sensing method by time-of-flight detection with femtosecond-laser pulses. Strain resolution of 18 pε/Hz1/2 at 1-Hz and 1.9 pε/Hz1/2 at 3-kHz is demonstrated with large dynamic range of >159 dB at 3-kHz.
