Directly Modulated Laser Transmitters for Scalable Multi-rate DPSK Communications§

Abstract

We present a new approach for generating multi-rate burst-mode DPSK waveforms using time and frequency-windowed directly modulated laser transmitters. Near-theoretical performance is demonstrated over a wide range of data rates using a WDM-scalable implementation.
