Nuclear Spin-wave Quantum Register for a Rare-earth Ion Qubit

Abstract

We implement a nuclear spin-wave quantum register for optically-addressable 171Yb3+ qubits in YVO4 using a local ensemble of 51V5+ lattice ions. This quantum mem-ory is a critical demonstration for future rare-earth ion-based quantum repeater networks.
