Abstract

We implement a nuclear spin-wave quantum register for optically-addressable ¹⁷¹Yb³⁺ qubits in YVO₄ using a local ensemble of ⁵¹V⁵⁺ lattice ions. This quantum mem-ory is a critical demonstration for future rare-earth ion-based quantum repeater networks.
