Soliton breathing induced by avoided mode crossing in optical microresonators

Abstract

We observed soliton breathing induced by avoided mode crossing, in soliton-based Kerr frequency combs in two microresonator platforms. We present an understanding of avoided mode crossing as a Lorentzian response that reveals the breathing dynamics.
