Abstract
On-chip generation of photons is preferred to bulk methods due to the small footprint, robustness and compatibility with mass production. However, up to date there is an unfeasibility to diminish the pump used for photon generation, which leads to strong noise signals in the devices ends and hinders the usefulness and detectability of the produced photons. Therefore, topological photonics offer an integrated solution by providing protection and efficient routing to the generated modes, while also achieving suppression of the pump signal due to the nature of edge states.
