Abstract
The development of fibre-based laser sources in the mid-IR wavelength range is nowadays of significant importance. The benefits of fibre laser design combined with the strong interaction of mid-IR light with molecules make them an essential tool for sensing, medical and environmental applications [1]. Fluoride fibres, such as ZBLAN and InF3, offer a broadband transmission (up to 4.2 μm and 5.1 μm respectively) and the ability to host various rare-earth dopants. Therefore, fluoride fibres can provide the desired solution for mid-IR fibre lasers development.
