Abstract

High harmonic generation (HHG) in solids has applications in spectroscopy and is proposed as a compact source of coherent deep ultraviolet (DUV) radiation [1]. HHG in crystals has been explained analogously to the atomic HHG with a three step model: electron-hole pair creation, electron-hole acceleration along the energy bands, and recombination [2-4]. Both the accumulated phase and central harmonic frequency are dependent on electron trajectory duration, excursion distance, the band structure of the crystal, and the time-varying laser intensity [4].
