Abstract
Trivalent terbium (Tb3+) has shown promise in recent years as an ion for green and yellow laser emission [1]. A major drawback impeding the application of Tb3+ for this purpose is its weak absorption under cyan-blue pumping around 486 nm [2]. This requires the use of very long laser crystals to achieve reasonable output powers and optical-to-optical efficiencies, which also restricts the mode-matching efficiency with low-brightness pump sources.
