Abstract

Due to high damage thresholds and a wide transparency range, β BaB2O4 (BBO) is a widely used non-linear optical crystal for wavelength conversion devices. The β phase is non centrosymmetric and belong to the point group symmetry 3m. In spite of the great number of publications on this subject, the magnitude of the non-linear optical coefficients in BBO is still the subject of controversy. Furthermore, the angular acceptance of BBO and its dependence on experimental conditions are still not clearly established.
