Abstract
A multiple-mirror Rayleigh/Raman LIDAR has been assembled at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (Rome, Italy). The system is installed in two containers, in order to allow its deployment to remote locations. Two beams at 532 nm and 355 nm, emitted by a Nd:YAG laser, are sent vertically into the atmosphere. The former is used to measure the elastic backscatter return, while the latter is used for measuring the Raman backscatter of N2 and water vapor.
