Abstract

Different techniques have been reported to compensate the distortion effects of Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) in long haul optical transmission systems The system presented here basically uses a liquid crystal optical polarization controller and a polarizer It features simplicity, ability to compensate a wide range of Differential Group Delays (DGD), and also avoids the utilization of mechanical moving parts, as well as return fiber feedback or high-frequency electronic equalization
