Abstract
In this paper we report what is believed to be the first 90° phase-matched second-harmonic generation (SHG) of CO2 laser radiation in the 9 2714-10 5910 µm range We achieved this result by temperature tuning of a CdGe(As1_xPx)2 crystal with a P2 molar concentration of x = 0 241 ±0 002 A type-2 (θ = 90°, ϕ = 90°) cut CdGe(As1_xPx)2 crystal used in the experiment had dimensions of 5 × 5 × 7mm3 The crystal is transparent from 1 7 to 18 1 µm with a small dip around 14 3 µm corresponding to the two-phonon cutoff in CdGeP2 at 13 5 µm Using the TEA CO2 laser tuned to 10 2466 and 10 5910 µm, we first measured the phase-matching angles and acceptance angles of this composite crystal
