Abstract
In the field of Wavelength Division Multiplexed networks (WDM), wavelength conversion is the key point to fully exploit the network capacities. Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate with titanium in- diffused waveguides (Ti:PPLN) is a very promising candidate for such applications as it allows to achieve polarization independent devices. Then, Quasi Phase Matching (QPM) can be developed to obtain the wavelength conversion in such crystals. To date, the electric poling is the most popular technique to realize the domain inversion[1] but, we have shown that the Electron Beam (EB) poling is very attractive. Indeed, the domain inversion gratings are obtained by direct EB irradiation, no lithography step is needed[2]. In that case, the resolution of the irradiated structures is very high ; moreover, gratings with submicrometer period can theoretically be achieved.
