Abstract

Semiconductor lasers exposed to external optical feedback have been found to exhibit a wide variety of behaviour. In particular dramatic spectral broadening has been observed over a large range of feedback levels. This phenomenon, commonly referred to as Coherence Collapse, has been found to be a consequence of chaotic dynamics.
