Abstract
As shown in [1], by choosing the OH radical as the primary species for microgravity combustion studies and a tunable LiCaAlF6:Ce3+ (LiCAF:Ce) laser as a laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) excitation source for LIF-based analytical unit for in-space/in-flight flame characterization, the weight-dimension characteristics of the unit (including the tunable UV laser and the PMT-detection system) can be minimized, which is extremely important for such applications.
